Joint exhibition of paintings, sculpture & prints with Mark Clark & Wayne Robinson
celebrating the ten year anniversary of 'Classic, Heartfelt & Foolish' at the Gallery
on Cork Street.
"Following Bailey's last full-scale exhibition at the Oxo Tower in January
2007, he was invited to exhibit a sculpture at the Baths in Rome. This
rekindled his interest in the 3rd dimension, something which had been in the
back of his mind since college days.
The sculptures are a 3D extension of Baileys paintings; fish, birds and
geometric patterns continue to be a recurring theme, along with the
resolutely English sense of humour displayed in his 2D work.
A recent move to rural Essex and a downsizing of his business have given him
the time to create and experiment with new concepts. The endless
possibilities thrown up by a CNC router, Formica and fibreglass have only
just begun to be explored; 2D elements, meanwhile, have been heading into
print, with digital and screen printing combined with gold leaf forming the
basis of this new direction"
